LONDON (BBC) -- Police holding two men arrested in an anti-terror raid in east London will ask for more time to question them.

Brothers Mohammed Abdul Kahar, 23, and Abul Koyair, 20, have been held over an alleged terror plot since the raid on a house in Forest Gate on Friday.

Police will apply to magistrates to extend a warrant, which expires on Wednesday night, for another week.

Kahar was shot in the shoulder during the raid. Both of the men deny the allegations.

Muslim leaders have urged a quick end to the house search, as Tony Blair said he supported the police "101%".

Respect Party activist Yvonne Ridley has called on Muslims in east London to stop cooperating with police.

Ridley, who became a Muslim after being kidnapped by the Taleban in Afghanistan five years ago, has accused the police of being heavy-handed.

"I don't think the Muslim community should communicate with the police any more until they start showing some respect to the community," she told BBC Radio 4's Today program.

Koyair's solicitor said police would apply to Bow Street Magistrates' Court for an extension to the warrant to next Wednesday and, if that was not granted, to this Friday.

On Tuesday evening Julian Young issued a statement on behalf of Koyair saying: "I still maintain that I am completely innocent of any acts to do with terrorism. "I am OK and keeping strong. My family need not worry about me."

Both brothers are being questioned about involvement in planning or carrying out terrorism acts.
